What's this project about?
As a Gen Z and a fellow Chinese student, I've witnessed firsthand the growing trend of "摆烂" (báilàn) – a passive resignation to a deteriorating situation. This phenomenon, characterized by a slow decline and a lack of motivation, is deeply concerning. Recognizing the urgent need to address this issue, my teammate Shruti and I embarked on a mission to challenge the status quo and inspire positive change.
What's big problem here? What's Putting Rotten?
By definition it means to give up or let things go. It describes a situation where something is going wrong and there is no hope of improvement. In this case, the person may intentionally decide to stop trying to fix the problem and simply let it get worse.
While Bai Lan is a conscious choice to underperform or give up effort, it is often a form of resistance or protest, but burnout is a state of exhaustion resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.
